One policy brief on the need to preserve healthy soils was published prior to UNFCCC COP28:
– The Scientific and Technical Committee of the international “4 per 1000” Initiative called out to enable and support the transition to climate-resilient agricultural systems, with healthy soil as a basis, underpinning planetary and human health.
Indeed, healthy soils with high organic carbon levels are key for (agro-) ecosystem resilience towards climate change and related extreme weather events.
