2018: International Conference on Agricultural GHG Emissions and Food Security – Sep. 10-13, 2018, Berlin
Under the aegis of the Joint Programming Initiative on Agriculture, Food Security and Climate Change (FACCE-JPI) and the Global Research Alliance on Agricultural Greenhouse Gases (GRA) in collaboration with the CGIAR Research Programme on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS) the “International Conference on Agricultural GHG Emissions and Food Security – Connecting Research to Policy and Practice” (AgriGHG 2018 Conference) focused on policies and innovative practices that can help mitigate agricultural GHG emissions while ensuring sustainable and resilient agricultural production and enhanced food security.
The 4 per 1000 Executive Secretariat supported the event with a field trip on the last day with the title “How to achieve the 4 per 1000 goal? – Demonstrations of Soil Organic Matter Management in Brandenburg”. Two dairy farms were visited and strategies to cope with natural variability to maintain and increase soil organic matter were discussed. A good soil organic matter management was highlighted by the farmers as helpful for coping with extreme weather events such as the drought experienced in Germany in summer 2018.
