COP 28 à Dubaï : expectations and majors results according to the “4 per 1000” Initiative

Two policy briefs on the need to preserve healthy soils were published prior to UNFCCC COP28:

– The Scientific and Technical Committee of the international “4 per 1000” Initiative called out to enable and support the transition to climate-resilient agricultural systems, with healthy soil as a basis, underpinning planetary and human health.

Indeed, healthy soils with high organic carbon levels are key for (agro-) ecosystem resilience towards climate change and related extreme weather events.

– Experts from CIRAD, IRD and the “4 per 1000” international initiative have issued a reminder of the vital importance of healthy soils in ensuring that food systems meet the target of zero net CO2 emissions.

For the UNFCCC COP28, they maked a series of recommendations in a policy brief intended for policymakers.
