“Soil is a diamond – The importance of soil and its restoration” – GFFA 2022
The Global Forum for Food and Agriculture 2022 (GFFA) centers on vital issues concerning global agriculture and food policies. This international conference is hosted by the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) and will take place from January 24 to January 28, 2022, prior to the launch of the Green Week.
The “4 per 1000” Initiative will participate in the expert panel “Soil is a diamond – The importance of soil and its restoration”. The panel will be shared between the initiative and the BMEL and will take place on January 25, 2022. The core concern of this panel is to raise awareness for the importance of soil health and its crosscutting effects on eco-system functioning and human wellbeing. During the discussion, representatives of different stakeholder groups are invited to make their cause for the importance of soil health in their respective ecological and economic setting and present their innovative approaches to foster it. In this regard, the representatives of the German humus program are invited to introduce their comprehensive approach to the exploration of suitable practices for carbon enrichment in German agriculture, while the members of the “4 per 1000” Initiative are envisaged to present their approaches to the restoration of degraded soils.
